My First Vendor Experience at Making Strides of the Triangle

ree

This October, I had the incredible opportunity to be a vendor at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event in Durham, NC—and what a memorable experience it was!

Normally, I serve as a volunteer at the Memory Wall—a space filled with reflection, connection, and quiet strength. It’s where I feel most grounded, honoring those we've lost and standing in solidarity with breast cancer survivors and their families. But this year, I stepped out of my comfort zone and hosted a vendor table representing my nonprofit, Angela Inspires, which supports the breast cancer community through advocacy, education, and empowerment.

As a first-time vendor at a breast cancer awareness event, I’ll admit I was nervous. I wasn’t sure what to expect, how the day would unfold, or how people would respond to Angela Inspires. But once I got settled in at my table, something shifted. The energy was uplifting, the community was welcoming, and I felt like I was right at home.

One of the highlights of the day was interacting with breast cancer survivors—each with their own powerful story—and connecting with other local vendors and small businesses who were just as passionate about supporting the cause. The conversations were heartfelt, the smiles were genuine, and the sense of purpose was undeniable.

Reflecting on the day, I’m already thinking about how to make next year even better. Here are a few things I plan to improve:

  • 🪪 Have business cards readily available for easy follow-up

  • 🛍️ Bring items to sell that reflect our mission and support our cause

  • Include a vendor tent for shade and a more polished setup

  • 🎁 Offer branded giveaways or keepsakes so people leave with something to remember Angela Inspires

Being part of this breast cancer awareness walk and vendor fair reminded me why I started this nonprofit—to uplift, empower, and inspire those affected by breast cancer. I’m so grateful for the experience and already looking forward to next year’s Making Strides event in North Carolina.

If you stopped by our table—thank you. If you missed us, we hope to see you next time!
