Tell the world who you are! (introduction) I am Felicia Robinson, the mother of 2 and a new GiGi. I celebrated Charter 51 on February 11 and I am loving life! I have been married for 30 years and looking forward to making many more memories with my family and friends. How did you learn about your breast cancer diagnoses?
I found the lump on 12/27/17. Led by the Holy Spirit to check my breast led to a diagnosis of DCIS in my right breast. What type of treatment did you receive?
I underwent a unilateral mastectomy in February, 2018 and 4 rounds of chemotherapy ending June 1, 2018. I was treated at MD Anderson Cancer Center and received an outpouring of love and support from the staff, my family, and friends. What has breast cancer taught you about yourself?
I learned that I am strong and it’s okay to say how I feel. Before my diagnosis, I didn’t want to disappoint anyone and didn’t always walk in my truth. Surviving breast cancer has taught me that self care is a priority and at the end of the day those that want to be with you... will.
As a breast cancer survivor, who/what has been the biggest inspiration during your journey? My biggest inspiration is my daughter. At the time of my diagnosis she was a 22-year old college student. She stepped up in the caregiver role without hesitation, apprehension, or ill will. My diagnosis strengthened our already solid bond. She goes to my appointments, checks on me daily, and is my biggest supporter. She recently graduated college and I am so proud of her!
Advice or encouragement you would like to share with the breast cancer community.
I would like to share that the power of positive thinking is real. Don’t allow yourself to feel down or sad and if you do- don’t unpack and stay there. We all experience bad days, but just know that joy comes in the morning. God won’t give us more than we can handle and will always provide a way to get through the rough times. God has always been a constant source in my life. I owe him everything. Keep Surviving!
